Tech specs
D-3-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase (HBDH)

Alternative names
(R)-3- Hydroxybutanoate : NAD+ oxidoreductase
Product code
rHBDH
E.C number
1.1.1.30
CAS number
9028-38-0
Systematic name
NAD+ oxidoreductase
Source
Recombinant HBDH (Alcaligenes faecalis) expressed in E. Coli
Form
A freeze-dried material
Suggested applications
Recombinant enzyme to measure serum levels of ß-Hydroxybutyrate as a method to diagnose and monitor diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and its treatment.
Enzyme function
ß-Hydroxybutyrate is measured with the help of the enzyme ß-Hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase (HBDH). HBDH can catalyze the oxidative dehydrogenation of ß-Hydroxybutyrate. At the same time, NAD+ is reduced to NADH, which can be quantified spectrophotometrically at 340nm.
Purity
>90% by SDS-PAGE
Molecular weight
28kDa (experimentally determined molecular weight)
Storage
Store desiccated at -15°C or below. Allow to come to room temperature before opening. Before returning to storage, re-desiccate under vacuum for a minimum of four hours. Re-seal before returning to -15°C or below.
Reconstitution
Dissolves readily at 5mg/ml in 0.1M Tris/HCl, pH 8.5, to give a clear solution
Optimum pH/ temperature
pH 8.5, 37°C (0.1M Tris/HCl buffer)
Activity
Not less than 400U/mg material. (Unit definition: amount of enzyme causing the reduction of one micromole of NAD per minute at 37°C and pH 8.5)
